im damn happy. cause i finally bought my slr. haha! so yesterday, j and i went to the IT show at suntec. as always, i go there having the mindset that it'll be a good bargain. but actually, pricing is the same. they tend to throw in a couple more freebies than the normal shops at funan or wherever else. well anyway, i want to talk a little bit about buying the right products for yourself. ive come to realise that buying stuff, any stuff, is about being comfortable using it. i thought that since i was going to get something that's so expensive, i should collect enough data from slr users in my circle, gathering my research before deciding which to get. i got many recommendations, nikon d90, d3000, d5000, canon 500d, 550d, sony alpha 550. i actually pre-set my mind about getting a nikon before going to the show cause my friends are using nikons and it'll be easy to share lenses. but when i held on to the devices at the booths, i realised its not about which one your best friend uses, which one the photography expert tells you you should buy because of whatever specifications. it all doesnt matter. well, actually, it does a little. but my point is, whats more important is how you feel about the device itself. i didnt like the nikons and the sonys the first time i picked them up. honestly, i thought it was really smart of sony to have the moving screen thing, but it wasnt something i'd like to own. but when i took the first shot with the 500d, i loved it. j didnt have much comments so i decided to get the canon. aiyah, but later after i got on the cab, i thought, i could have paid another $150 to get the 550d. but whatever, nevermind la. haha, buy already. and it cost me a bomb, almost as much as my macbook. so ex. i overspent by 300bucks. ): anyway, i havent really used it yet cause i need to charge, and unpack, and go to daiso to buy some mothballs to keep it in a drybox.
well, here's the new camera!

canon plastic bags. i dont like plastic bags with handles like these, they hurt your fingers especially when your stuff is real heavy.

here's the camera, still unwrapped.

see, my money. suddenly very poor.

here it is! i used to think the pro camera's canon/ nikon/ sony strap is really cool. now, i have one!

here's what i actually bought - a canon 500d kit 1, including the 500d body and a 18-55 lens.

here's also what i like about this camera, its really handy and light. i want to bring it out overseas so it really has to be portable.

and a whole range of freebies that came along - a tripod, an additional battery, 2 8gb + 1 4gb sd cards, the carrying case which pro photographer uncles always carry, and the eos 500d guidebook which i found out was $14.90 in borders.

haha, and uob had a lucky draw and i dipped 2 pairs of gv movie tickets. j and i havent been to the cinema for a longgggg time. so we'll be going soon!

i used to take pictures. now, i take photographs.
