you know, i used to have this impression that working is tiresome and boring because youd finish a task and have to wait for your boss to assign something to you. and this thing that youre asked to do will probably take half the amount of time he expects, and thus, you'll end up looking very free when youre doing nothing but surfing boring websites. but i was so wrong. ive been here less than 2 weeks and im getting all these responsibilities. i'll talk about them in a while. before that, i think i should mention that i was quite skeptical about the job since its my first permanent placement and i was unsure if i'll do well. for the first couple of days, i had these thoughts running through my mind that my bosses might cut me anytime because they a. find me unsuitable for the job, b. think im too green, c. sourced for a more suitable candidate for the same position, etc etc. and the list goes on. then i see how much they include me in things and now, i feel like this is not only a school i work in. this is my school, those are my students, my kids. and these people i see everyday really want me there, to work with them for as long as my passion still lies within this field. the feeling that you're only at work because the company needs someone, or anyone, there doesnt exist here. and im really glad i agreed to join. im getting all these responsibilities and they give me a sense of belonging, knowing that im part of everything academic that happens in the school. i teach, plan lessons, plan syllabi, organise field trips, handle the kids and their problems, and many many more. there's so much going on that most of the time, i really find myself fighting the clock to finish everything before 6pm. well, most of the time, i stay back for another half hour or so, just to complete whatever im working on. im also really glad that our school's coming up with a booklet of some sort, and my profile is included in it. plus, my boss mentioned an expansion to our school in hangzhou and all of us might take turns to go there. im really excited about this career and how it'll path itself for me. and im extremely grateful that i have a job that i love in all aspects, even though im fresh.
